Kiwi Can Reflection

IALT: Write about what I learnt during Kiwi Can.

This week for Kiwi Can we didn't have Mr Malu come in which was a shame, but Ms Lily always knew how to keep the balance in between our class. Like any other lesson we got straight into it, first going over what we learnt from the past weeks, and then moving onto the Energiser. The Energiser was fun, I enjoyed trying to block the ball from going in between my legs and trying to get the other people out.

I didn't care who was out because I was only focused on keeping myself in. At the end of that Energiser I could tell that everyone was up and ready to learn. Going over the theme for this term I liked the way everyone participated in answering the questions, but most of the times everyone didn't know the answer.

Going into the last 10 minutes of the session, I really thought about what I learnt. I learnt that you have the ability to make your own choices and control your emotions under any situation. At times I can control the way I feel but if someone goes over the top I get angry and physically act.

Leadership Program Reflection

IALT:  Write about what I learnt during our leader sessions with Ms. Latoya.

As the leaders of the school, we have to always remain worthy to our roles and always set an example to our following students. So the teachers have made a program where we can learn more and how to act more like a leader. Ms Latoya, who was a former Kiwi Can leader here at our school has taken the time out of her other job to come and teach us more on leadership. I am thankful for her coming here to help us because we need to remember that is always isn't about wearing the badge, but acting upon what we got chosen for.

So basically, all we talked about was how to be more specific when we give instructions, and why it's so vital. For example, if you tell your class to rip a corner of a piece of paper. They won't know what side, and you won't get what you want. So it's really important to be specific, so that everyone understands clearly. We were told that we are going to lead a class, for Kiwi Can. I didn't really worry too much because I was a leader and I should always be keen to try anything new.

I teamed up with Kenneth and Siale, because we are all keen to try something new and learn more about how to show more leadership qualities. I learnt that we always have to be specific when we have give out instructions because our class needs to understand what your talking about clearly. I can't wait until I get the chance to shine with my peers.

Music Reflection

IALT:  Write about what I did and learnt during Song Writing.

For music this week, me and my peers had been working on choosing a song and changing the lyrics to turn the moral of the song into a moral based on our Inquiry topic, Hobbies. My group consisted of three people, Kenneth , Siale and myself. The first thing we did was change up a sentence, to make it more interesting and make the reader visualise deeper. I loved this activity because it challenged me to really think on my perspective, and what other people would like what I wrote down. Me and Kenneth worked on it together :

I eagerly cruised to the neighboring shop last night, because my home boys were waiting for me wearing red and black.

I Rapidly Dashed To The disintegrated Shattered  Store waiting  to collapse to get some bread .

The lines in the red are mine, and the writing in blue is Kenneth's. We shared our lines with our class, and to be honest I wasn't expecting the reaction that we got. I thought it was going to be a 'boring' reaction but it turned out to be the opposite! Music teacher, Caleb was surprised with our lines and we left him thinking about what we wrote.

He said that we did a good job and that it's good to make your reader ask some questions. I was proud of myself, and then we combined with another member, Siale. As all leaders, we came up with a song together and we didn't leave out any suggestions from our teammates. Which was good because if one didn't agree, then it wasn't the right choice.

It was sad at the end because we didn't have enough time to change up the lyrics, but we would end up having time next week to finish what we started. I love Music, because it gets me in different moods, Happy and Sad. My favourite genre of Music is Hip Hop, how about you?

Kiwi Sport Reflection

IALT: Write about what I learnt during Kiwisport.

For Kiwisport this week, my class did a recap on what we've learnt so far, everyone contributed in our class discussion was great. But the only thing that I didn't like was that it felt like we weren't getting anywhere. I don't mean to be rude and judging but I mean, if we go over what we've already learnt once, why should we keep doing it? Probably because Jasmin just wants to refresh our memory on past things we've learnt.

Anyways, the only thing that I liked during Kiwi Sport was when we got into our groups and came up with our own dance. My group consisted of three people, Me, Tevita and Monita. As a leader, I chose to be a leader in our group and got my peers back on task when they were focused on something else. We only had 15 minutes, and it seemed we weren't getting anywhere so I barked at my team to step up and starting working together.

We came up with moves, which was fantastic . But in the end we didn't get to showcase what we came up with, with our class because we didn't get chosen. I was happy because I didn't really want to show our dance moves, as I hate dancing but I wanted to show others that you should always try something new, because you never know, you might end up liking it and turning it into one of your hobbies.

A challenge I faced was coming up with the dance moves because I didn't know what to add, and if my team would appreciate it.  I enjoyed working together with my team because we were all showing the school value Whanaungatanga.

Technology Reflection

IALT: Write about what I learnt and completed during Technology for this week.

Today in Technology, it was our last week in our class for our group. My group has been with Mrs Ferguson for the past 9 or so weeks, and during that time I've been working hard, and putting in hard effort to complete my creation. The first time I walked into the room, I thought it was going to be boring because of what we learnt last year, but I regret thinking negatively to Mrs Ferguson's teachings because now I loved it, and wished we worked on something else. I must say, I've been through hard challenges but I was supported by both Mrs Ferguson and my peers.

This week, I was extremely proud of myself because Mrs Ferguson told me that she show cased my clock to other staff because she took it to a meeting, where all the teachers had to showcase what they were teaching their students, at the time I was the only one finished. Mrs Ferguson said, that the people fiddled with it , and were amazed at how I came up with my idea, and why.

I didn't do much this week, but help others finish theirs. I really felt like our class worked really hard because in the end everyone managed to finish and then get a photo taken with their creation. Here is mine :
The quality of my Chromebook camera isn't good, but I used Red and White to paint my clock, both colours stand out. Then I went over the edges with permanent marker. A challenge that I faced was when I had to draw my designs, I didn't know what to draw. But in the end I decided to choose a Shield.
