Jelly beans

Rendered Image
Jelly beans are are colourful, sweet and delicious. Have you ever wondered how they are made?

A  jelly bean will take 6 or 10 days to make. First the
sugar is heated to 175 degrees celsius in a kettle. Then the glucose and starch are added.

In another part of the factory , starch is poured onto a tray. A leveller evens out the starch on a big tray to make it more flat. Then a mould presses down into the starch to make shapes for the jelly beans.

Each of the tray’s make around 175 jelly beans moulds. After that The sugar and starch mix is poured into moulds. These tray’s can make 1 million jelly beans per hour!!

In another part of the factory a worker puts food colouring into liquid sugar. After they change color the worker dumps even more into the drum.

This is repeated 4 times! There are 124,00 jelly beans in each drum. Finally the drum stops spinning  and lets the jelly beans dry for 24 hours. Now they are ready to eat.

Now you know how they're made, you might appreciate their sweet yummy flavour a little bit more.
