Student Leader Meeting

So today Me, Raena, Metui and Hereani were pulled out of our LAST Life Education Session. Maui a fellow student leader told us that we had a Student Council Meeting. The meeting was all about us leaders demonstrating different ways of leading a Kiwi Can Session. My buddy was Metui, we were experts at doing this because we did it last week while the Rm 10 leaders were in Life Education. Overall my highlight of this session was being able to observe the other other leaders doing their different things. I wish we could've been in a real Kiwi Can Class teaching the little kids... I would like to thank Mr M for leading us in our meeting, and Nicole for teaching us things in Life Education!

Music Exp

WALT: Reflect on our Music experience.

Today in Music we were watching clips about Music from a company called Rad Rhythm. I learnt what Subdivisions are, along with Accent. An Accent is an emphasis placed on a particular note. Subdivisions are musical beats that can be divided into smaller parts.

The word dynamics means.... Changing the volume of the music.

The word Crescendo means increasing loudness in music.

The word Decrescendo means decreasing the loudness of music.

Subdivisions are musical beats that can be divided into small pieces, like stated above.

My highlight for this session was being able to learn new things about music. And also challenging my peers to spell a word correctly.

Bloom's Taxonomy

WALT: use Bloom’s Taxonomy to critically summarize/analyse the text.

Here is a Bloom's Taxonomy task I had to complete after reading an article about the ship "General Grant" it was sunken in 1866 off the shore of Auckland's Island, it sailed into a cave and only 15 out of 83 crew members managed to survive. The gold contained on the ship was also lost. It has the value of over half a million dollars!

Island Of Treasure

Here is a DLO about my "Create" slide of my Bloom's Taxonomy Task.
The article my group and I read was about Auckland's Island, and the lost treasure of the "General Grant"
The vessel "General Grant" was sailing on the Southern Ocean when it started to sink... The crew were struggling to find a safe landing location. Until the sheer cliffs of Aucklands Islands appeared out of thin air!
The gold on the vessel was lost in the incident, and still remains there now!

Life Ed Reflection

WALT: Learn things about our human body.

So today for Life Ed we learnt about our human body.

3 things I learnt in our experience was....

How energy drinks and drugs can affect our body. Energy drinks contain Caffeine which is a drug, if we drink too much alcohol or energy drinks it can affect our thinking and behaviour.

We also learnt about different body parts located in our body. Did you know that our kidney cleans out the dirty blood then send it into our large intestine?? It then comes out our Gluteus Maximus.

And another we learnt was being able to watch a video with a girl named Chloe starred in it. She talked about our brain and to keep it healthy as possible. Our brain is the key part to our body, not our heart, our heart just pumps blood around our body.

A question I would've wanted to ask it what happened if our heart didn't beat, or our brain didn't work properly???

2 things I liked during our lesson was, being able to play a little game and also being able to learn new things.

A thing that I didn't understand was when Nicole was talking about the different parts located in our body!

Thanks for having the time to read my reflection!

Yesterday after school for BoxFit, it was very different...
Not only did the Juniors join but we ended up coaching them!
My buddy was Jeridon he was a future star. But he always forgot to protect his head when punching the pads. Boxfit is an amazing way to build up, Confidence, Fitness, Teamwork and many more. Boxfit is a 8 week programme and practises are on Tuesday and Thursday!

Kiwi Can Session

For Kiwi Can we did Problem Solving. Our category was Cultural Difference. It was between Maori and Pacific Islanders! The Pacific Islanders were playing a game of Rugby, and didn't let the Maori's play, so they ended up fighting until Metui came and saved the day. He told us we should treat each other equally and not have anger enter our lives. Kiwi Can is a programme for kids, they encourage kids to follow the right path and surround yourself with good people, people who will always be there for you! I would like to thank Mr M and Ms Latoia for their time and knowledge!!!!!

Last Badminton Session.

WALT: Reflect on our experience during our last BADMINTON session, with Kevin.
Image result for Badminton
So today???

Today for KiwiSport we participated in our last BADMINTON session with our mentors Kevin. Kevin doesn't come alone but his partner Ben wasn't there to watch our exciting games. \

Of course all games come with a set of rules, both with shuttles and rackets.

Rules for the Racket:

NEVER swing at or around people.

NEVER have sword fights with eachother

DO NOT use it as a guitar ( Well you can, but you'll get what I mean )

Rules for the Shuttle:

DO NOT shoot or target your shuttle at anyone.

If you accidently shoot it at someone it will REALLY hurt!
Also if you get them in the eye they could go blind.

In badminton their are two different strokes.

Forehand and Backhand.

If you use forehand it's like shaking someones hand.

If you use Backhand it's like holding a frying pan.

The highlight of this session was having the chance to challenge my peers. My buddy James and I go one on one to see who's best at Badminton. Of course I won.

I have nothing left to say but thank Kevin for giving up his time.

Summary About Paora Winitana

This week for Reading I had the opportunity to write a summary about Paora Winitana.
At the age of 14 he was invited to church games by some of his friends. Although playing rugby all his life he was taught how to play basketball and fell in love with it. He also turned down several opportunities to play Bball in the United States, but he turned them down to go on a mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints! Which meant he is a Mormon, I admire him because I am Mormon and he chooses to worship on Sunday.

History Of Olympics

INFORMATION REPORT WRITING PLAN:
History Of Olympics

Title
History Of Olympics
Introduction:What are the big ideas in this report?
Opening Statement (no more than one sentence)
Brief description about about the key ideas in this report.
“It never get’s easier. You’re just getting better” In my information report I will be talking about sport in the ancient and modern times. A question has been bugging me since we got this task yesterday… How was sport made?

Paragraph One
Olympics in the Ancient times

Many sports were played in the ancient times. Like Sumo Wrestling, Boxing, Pankration and Running.  No other country was allowed to compete. Olympics now are held in different places while Olympics in the ancient days were only held at one place and that was Olympia.

Paragraph Two

Olympics in Modern Times

The modern Olympic Games or Olympics are leading international sporting events featuring summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. The Olympic Games are considered the world's foremost sports competition with more than 200 nations participating.
Paragraph Three

Modern And Ancient

Sport in the ancient times were very different to sport in our days. In the ancient times there were fewer events, and only free men who could speak Greek could compete. This one time I heard that women weren’t allowed to compete in Olympic games, if they did they would get persecuted. The first woman to complete was in the 1900s. Also men competed in Olympics naked! In our days both females and males can compete, which makes it fare because we want to find out which female and male are the best in the world at different things.

Diagrams supported with information

Conclusion
Thanks for having the time to read my Information Report. I hope you have learnt something about rugby and could one day share it with a friend.

WALT: Write a information report about the History Of Sport.

Here is a Doc about the History of Rugby / Sport. Did you know that the creator of Rugby ( William Webb Ellis ) just picked up the ball and ran! So that was how rugby came to be!..

Kiwi Can Reflection

WALT: Reflect on our skills we learnt during our 1 hour Kiwi Can session!

Today for Kiwi Can my group basically made a play about girls spreading rumors about each other. In my group was Toni, Frances, Ana, Raena, Jason and Me.  Ana was telling lies to Jason who told Raena, then Raena told Toni. After all of this Toni took it all out on Raena. The funny thing was that Ana was telling lies and Toni over thought about this.

During our Kiwi Can session one thing I liked was that everyone joined in, well most of us did. Participating and Contributing is in our "TRUMP"  as well as our Key Competencies.

What I think my group and I should have done was get more creative in our activity!

Thanks for having the time to read my reflection!
Many thanks!
