Cybersmart T4W2

IALT: Write about what I learnt during Cybersmarts for this week.

This week for Cybersmarts my class had worked on the word Netiquette. I had heard the word before but had forgotten what it meant. But luckily, our beloved Cybersmarts teacher Mrs Shearling helped my class to strengthen our knowledge of online users and how to always keep safe while using it.
The word Netiquette consists of the word 'net' and 'etiquette' which to me was very interesting.

I didn't work alone, I was accompanied by my peer Matthew. We used the website Canva where it enabled us to choose a template  and make it our own. I must say, it was pretty hard completing this because well I didn't have much time too as I was sick.  But as a year 8 student I was determined to finish my work to a high standard and inspire my other peers.

A challenge I found was writing down reasons that support my ideas. It really challenged me to think a lot and use the ideas from my partner. I enjoyed working with another class mate because discover his strengths and weaknesses.

Cybersmart : My Island

IALT: Create my own island recording the websites I have been on for the past week.

Here is my digital footprint, but in the form of an island. For Cybersmarts I had to create my own island recording the most recent websites I had been on for the past week. As you can see I started on Blogger and then finished at Google Documents. Of course, I had been on more websites then shown, but I didn't want to include everything because it was the same thing, for example.

I had been on Google, for about 15 minutes searching up facts. Instead of putting a lot of Google photos I just chose to do one, which represent all the things I had used Google for. Anyways, I named my island and made up my own island, to show my imagination and creativity. Something I learnt during this week's session was that everything you do on your device is always stored somewhere on the internet, even if you think you've deleted it.

Something challenging was fitting all my images because sometimes they didn't fit , but in the end I critically thought and finished up on my job. I enjoyed coming up with my own ideas because, I didn't want to copy off Mrs Shearing's work.

Slide Of Advice

IALT: Create a slide of advice for when you are going to post something online, or using the internet.

This week we had Mrs Shearing come in once again for her normal visit, to teach us skills based on using the internet in the correct way and how to stay safe. We missed out last week's session because she was away, but this week we learnt about 'Digital Footprints' and that we should only post things on the internet that we are proud of. Because once you post something it is going to be permanent, meaning although it might seem you have deleted it, it is still somewhere on the web.

Anyways, that's something I've learnt.  A challenge I found was understanding the way that the internet works, and how the safety search saves all the things you have been recently on. I think that the internet is one of the things that people little know that it could help you get a good job or ruin your chances of achieving your dreams.

For example, if you have done something that you regret doing in past it can have a huge impact on things yet to come.  So I'd rather do the right thing then have nothing to be proud of. A challenge I found was coming up with the different advice to give to my audience. I hope that it can help people make the right decisions.

Feel free to leave a comment,
Many thanks :)

Here is my last and final blogging rubric. This post is about my Weekend and as the other two, I didn't quite achieve all the things expected in the Smart Learner category. I only missed out on one question which is pretty good as I didn't know what Mrs Shearing was going to put on the rubric, it was a surprise.

My blogging goal is to achieve everything in the Smart Learner column and one day achieve my goal of getting 1,000 blog posts.
