Music Reflection

IALT: Write about what I did during our Music session today.

Today at 9:40am Digital Group 2 went down to the Music room for Music. When I stepped into the Music room some of the Year 6's were already down there sitting nicely and talking amongst themselves. When we arrived everything noisy, meaning it was time to use our heads to think.

The first thing we did was get a piece of paper and write down the different parts of a drum onto that piece of paper. There are 8 different parts of the drum they are, Kick/Bass drum, Snare Drum, Hi Tom, Middle Tom, Floor Tom, Crash Cymbal and Ride Cymbal and drumsticks of course. As everyone was thinking I finished in a matter of minutes and patiently waited for the others to finish.

When everyone was finished Caleb showed us the answers on the board, to my luck I was RIGHT! I was very proud of myself as it was my first time achieving the different parts of a drum.  I heard moans and cheers as we went through the answers. After everyone was piped down, we went on a website called "Sound Trap" where everyone was required to create a beat using different parts of a drum. I forget about creating a beat as we were told that last week.

Caleb, gave us a demonstration on what to do, at first his beat didn't sound to good until he did a few clicks and then and there, it was "Gangsta" beat. He only used a snare drum and bass drum to make his Gangsta beat. Everyone was amazed but at that time it was almost finished no one dared to do nothing and soon we were all on the website trying to create our own and creative beat.

I started to get the hang of it until, time was up! They say when you have fun time goes really fast but when you do something boring time goes very slow. It was at time I knew that time really does go fast when your having fun. But before we left Caleb told us that we would be showcasing our beats to everyone, I think that motivated us to do the job and not be embarrassed if you didn't have a beat.

Overall I think that Music helps me develop some Music skills and one day I might grow up to be the next 'Big' thing. I love Music and my favourite genre of Music is RnB. A musician that I look up is Bruno Mars, he creates songs that can impact on another person's life for instance if her writes a depressing song, it will suit the emotion of a person who is feeling depressed.
I hope that next week I can showcase my beat and let Caleb know that I am a trustworthy and reliable student to get the job done.

Here is my reflection about Music time today and what we did.
Beatmatching at first to me I thought was a cool and hard thing but when you really contribute in a class it you regret what you said/thought. I enjoyed beatmatching because I will grow up to teach someone else and show them what to do. A challenge I faced was not being able to show Caleb a finished and amazing beat, but next time I will be better.

Different Music Session

I am learning to write about our different Music session.

Today for Music it was completely different, and by different I mean way different. Well first off all we missed out 10 minutes of Music time because we were running in the hall ways and my teacher is strict about that because we might accidentally hit someone and injure them. So she caught us panting heavily and she told us not to run again and in the end she ended up walking us down to Music.

Instead of going down to Music as a class we went in different groups depending on what we chose to do for Music. There were 5 groups and I chose to do 'Digital'. Caleb, our music teacher told my whole class that the category Digital is doing simple DJ and matching beating. I was interested in this and I soon signed up for it. Today was our first practise and we talked about how Music was shared, way back in 10,000 BC (According to Caleb) Music was shared in a different way.

"You guy's picked the hardest group, if it's hard it's going to be more fun" said Caleb. I didn't have second thought because I had already committed to staying in this group.
Caleb also talked about how Thomas Edison created a disk that could hold songs. I was fascinated by this fact because I thought Thomas Edison was only the inventor of the light bulb, but I guess I was wrong. We talked about different websites that could be used to create Music, I was familiar with some of them like Garage Band and Sound Trap. I didn't know what we were going to do until Caleb told us to open our netbooks and log onto Sound Trap. I already had an account of course, and soon he told us how to match beat in a loop.

Everyone didn't know what he was talking about at first, but when he showed us I jumped straight into it! There were different beats and I didn't know which one to pick, but as I scanned through the available options Caleb said we almost had a few minutes left. I was eager to find a beat so I just skimmed and scanned until I found the perfect beat. As I went to click it time was up, I knew I didn't click it but I didn't mind because I could still work on it when I got back up to class.

For Music next week I hope that I can follow the rules and be able to walk down to Music myself without anyone telling me off.

IALT: Write a reflection about my Music experience.

'Today for Music it was completely different, and by different I mean way different'

Something I enjoyed about Music this week was being able to learn about how Music was shared around the world back in the olden days. Something I found challenging was being able to manage myself while coming back upto class. I hope next week I don't get called back and get taken down to Music by our teacher.

Thanks for having the time to read my reflection!
