Improving Water Quality; Nathan Guy

I am learning to find an article about Pollution and write about it.

Last week Nathan Guy was with the Prime Minister And Environment Minister Dr Nick Smith, and the announcement that they will work on making 90 per cent of New Zealand's rivers and lakes swimmable by 2040. Meaning it will take a lot of time planning, testing, finding and many more. For me I think this isn't a really SMART goal, but I think that can manage it and complete the job. When the 2040 comes I will be a 36 year old mature man who will be waiting for the opening of the new swimmable lakes and other water sources.

The 2040 target is estimated to cost the Government, councils, industry and farmers about $2 billion. The want all the local rivers swimmable when the weather is right, and New Zealand is the perfect place with so many in offer. Looking over their shoulders water pollution and blaming different parts of society won't help improve water quality. This is going to be an collective effort by everyone.

Dairy farmers have done a great job and already voluntarily fenced off over 24,000km of waterways, matched with planting has been a positive step in improving our fresh water. In the area of the Manawatu River has received $46 million worth of improvements from 2010 to 2016. Aiming to have 90 per cent of New Zealand lakes and rivers swimmable by 2040 is an ambitious goal and it will make them world leaders in water quality.Nathan believes it is a achievable goal and necessary for our children and tourists to enjoy.

What do I think about this article?

I think that trying to make the different water channels swimmable by 2040 is a very mammoth goal because there are many lakes, rivers, oceans, sea, etc. I also think that it is a very self-less goal because being able to make the water quality better will take a lot of self-esteem, hardwork, teamwork and resilience. Water Pollution is one of 6 different types of Pollution, and that's a fact.

I enjoyed reading the article because Pollution is one of the things my school is working on, and it's great to read an article based on Pollution. A challenge I found was getting down some information because it was a very long article. Although it challenged my Reading skills I still managed to finish what I started.

Youtube's Is To Stop 30 second ADS!

I am learning to write about the 30 second ad that pops up when you watch a Youtube video.

Youtube has announced that they will stop showing the 30 second advertiser that you cannot skip. Although the Adverts are a big part of how Youtube and video owners make big money. If you view the advertiser more and more times, the more money adverts pay. Meaning Adverts are one of the many ways why Youtube is a very popular, famous and world wide website.

Youtube gives you the option to skip an ad after 5 seconds. At time you have to watch the whole 30 second ad just to watch the video you want, However feedback on the 30 second ad shows that people got bored with watching the ad and didn't bother watching that full video. Although it makes big money for the video owners  it can be a big part of how people want to watch their video. The 30 second ad is a huge disappointment for Youtube but they will enable ads that are shorter, so that people don't get bored.

What are my thoughts on this article?
Well to be honest I myself have been through this situation and it becomes very annoying because you can not skip the ad in order for me to continue watching the video. I get way Youtube put the 30 second ad in the first place, to earn money, but sometimes people need to think about others and how they will react. Like if I were a video owner, I would still think of money but also the people who are watching.
You want the world to give the best feedback, and then you would feel proud.

Here is my writing about how Youtube is announcing to stop the 30 second ads. Feedback has shown that people have stopped watching the video because of the long ad.
Although it makes money for the video owners Youtube will enable a shorter ad that you can skip after 5 seconds. What are your thoughts on this article?

KiwiSport Reflection

I am learning to write a reflection about my Kiwisport experience.

Today in KiwiSport we did BADMINTON, this week we were working on movement and balance. Our instructor Ben taught and showed us how to use Backhand and Forehand grips using movement that includes moving our legs and hands. If you were a left hand you would start with your left foot first, if you were a right hand you would step with your right foot first and then follow through with your other foot. The other move also included footwork but then you would pivot. So you would step with your left/right foot and then pivot with the other and then hit the shuttle with your racket, but making sure you have balance so you don't risk falling down.

When Ben finished demonstrating the moves I buddied up with the same person I had 2 weeks ago, Siale. We went outside and started showing off our moves that we learnt from Ben. It was going awesome until Siale started playing around hitting the shuttle dangerously, one hitting me in the chest... Of course, it bounced off but it didn't hurt too much. I told him to stop playing around and stick to what Ben had asked us to do. Finally everything was going smoothly, "Bam" I hit the shuttle to high and landed on top of the school building, not coming down to the floor below.

I hoped it would come back down but it didn't. Luckily Ben wasn't watching but then Ms Komor came out, I quickly ran and got another shuttle and then came back to Ms Komor knowing about the shuttle on the roof, she wasn't angry. I was ashamed of myself but I knew next time to hit the shuttle at a controllable pace.

"Come on in now boys" said Ben, we all went inside and sat down then Ben gave us a talk about what we learnt today. We went over the movements again and then it was time to go back to class.

Overall, I felt that this week's BADMINTON session was both tiring and unique because I didn't know that there was different type of moving in the particular sport, well I knew that running was, but not like pivoting and turning your feet 90 degrees. My goal for next week is to hit the shuttle so that it doesn't land on the roof top again and take the time to learn more seriously.

I enjoyed learning a new technique a real joy because one day I might be the best Badminton player in the school, maybe, maybe not. A challenge I found was trying to do the technique but in the end I got it!

What Do I Know About Pollution?

Hmmmmmm?
What do I know about Pollution?

Pollution to me takes up space on our land and endangers the species of different plants and animals. Humans cause Pollution by burning fossil fuels, driving cars and trucks, manufacturing and mining. For me I think that people should start looking after our planet Earth because one day every living thing on the Earth might be extinct forever. Landfills are one of the many things that cause Pollution, all unwanted waste gather up into mammoth piles underground and then causes Soil Pollution.

There are 6 different types of Pollution, they are;
Water Pollution
Air Pollution
Soil Pollution
Thermal Pollution
Radioactive Pollution
Noise Pollution
Light Pollution

Water Pollution: In my own words I think that Water Pollution is when people throw their waste into seas, rivers, creek etc creating unwanted water that are both dangerous to  wildlife and people. It is also the contamination of water bodies without treatment to remove harmful compounds, and when animals or humans drink water that isn't filtered you can become sick and weak.

Air Pollution: Air Pollution is when gasoline and other hydrocarbon fuels in automobiles, trucks, and jet airplanes produces several pollutants like; Nitrogen, Oxides, Carbon Monoxide and many more. It's also when factories burst huge loads of smoke into the air, and then we breath in that air and that causes Air Pollution.

Soil Pollution: Soil Pollution is when waste fills into huge landfills and are then buried underground making it harder for Mother Nature to protect the plants and wildlife from being harmed from waste. It is also caused by human chemicals that are wasted. Imagine all the different species of plants extinct? Future generations may not be able to witness the real life thing.

Thermal Pollution: Thermal Pollution is when power plants and factories eject both hot and cold water into nearby rivers, lakes, creeks, streams, seas etc, rapidly changing the temperature of the water. Some of the marine organisms require a certain water temperature and when the water changes suddenly they are unable to survive through out it.

Radioactive Pollution: Radioactive Pollution is when radioactive material particles are released into the air, water, or Earth from humans, accident or design. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, think about a nuclear bomb and how much destruction it can cause? When a bomb is set off it create huge amounts of smoke in which rises into the air causing Radioactive Pollution.

Noise Pollution: Did you know that Noise Pollution mostly comes from human technology? From cars to trucks and helicopters to jumbo aircrafts. Noise Pollution is when noise comes to an annoying or harmful voluming and is harmful to human and wildlife activity. When a Boeing 747 aircraft departs from its destination it creates huge amounts of sound waves although you can’t see it, you can hear it.  Before an aircraft departs, a man stands below the jumbo human piece of technology holding two orange sticks signalling the pilot were to go,  the noises are so loud they are to wear ear muffs created to block out the sound generating from the engines, that is called Noise Pollution.

Light Pollution: Light Pollution is when street lights fill the night sky, and for nocturnal creatures it can be  a distraction when looking for prey. It also obstructs the observation of night stars and neighboring planet’s. For astronomers light pollution has been a disaster. When a light is too bright it cause Light Pollution.

These are all dangerous types, but I think Water,Air and Light Pollution is being caused mostly by us Humans. People around the globe should be preventing Pollution from happening because fish and other sea creatures fills our stomachs with Nutrients, Vitamins and Fibre. Air helps us breath during the day and the light helps us see inside the most darkest places. But what would happen if all these things disappear?

Pollution makes the land unhealthy and filthy. And one day the Earth might not be able to hang on longer and might take the first step of decomposing! We humans need to take extra care about Mother Nature because Mother Nature takes care of us in many ways like giving us shelter, food and water.

Take a stand and call for Pollution ban!

Here is my knowledge on what I think
