Te Whare Tapa Wha - Inquiry Topic

WALT: Choose hobbies that will help strengthen our Whare Tapa Wha (Four Walls)

For Inquiry this term we are learning about our hobbies, leisure. I have hobbies because it helps me change my mood and day, it also helps me to deeply connect with my family and my peers. I am familiar with the four walls because our school done a movie about it and submitted it to Manaiakalani for other schools to witness what we learn here at Tamaki Primary.

This task challenged me because I didn't quite know what kind of hobbies would help develop our health and support. But in the end I was helped by my peers because I helped them, it's like a give back thing, where we don't help unless we give something back. But I tried to include hobbies I liked and hobbies I don't like.

Something I enjoyed while working on this was coming back to Te Whare Tapa Wha after we already learnt about this, and we all had a clear understanding on what we were walking on. A challenge I found was figuring out the different hobbies.

SOLO Current Events

WALT: Apply the SOLO thinking framework to critically examine a current event. 

For Reading today I have decided to complete an independent task because I have finished my work from yesterday. I haven't done a current event in a long time, I think the last time I did one was when I was Year 6 and in Ms Kyla's class of 2015. It felt good to finally complete one of these again because it made me remember the things I did while back in middle school and the things I learnt from both teachers and classmates. 

The article I chose to do today was based on Iosia Soliola dangerous tackles on Billy Slater when both teams went face to face during their match on the 22nd of July at GIO Stadium, Canberra. Slater was knocked out cold, and when examined couldn't remember that he played in the Origin series and that he had sustained an ankle injury earlier in the week.  

But it took 4 days for Soliola to really get attention when he was finally banned for five weeks, coming in on time when they face the Storm again. But it's unclear why he went to tackle Billy after the ball had been passed. Something I found challenging was trying to remember the things that I needed to achieve completeing this task.

Reading (Continued)

IALT: Summarize the article I have read using 25 words.

This reading activity was a carry on task because I didn't have enough space to put this in on my last reading post. This task was together with my other blog post I just blogged about reading an article based on hobbies, I have a lot of hobbies but sports is one of my main ones. I felt like I didn't give it 100%  and thought hard enough when I came across the words that I had searched up on the internet.

But at least I didn't have to worry about thinking hard because the internet was my best buddy at the time. Something challenging I found while working on this task was coming up with some words because I didn't think about the topic too hard, my next steps in learning is to give it my all and critically think about the task so that I can achieve it to a high standard, level 4.
