National Party Unveils New Logo

I am learning to about the National party and their new logo!

The National Party has released it's new logo in preparation for this year's general election. Now that the National party have a new leader, Bill English, he has come up with the new design for his party now that John Key has resigned from his position as PM and National party leader.

The new design has the letter 'N' in the middle with different shades of blue in the background. The party's social media and website have switched over to a design. The new logo is a marked departure from the previous logo.

Which design do I like more than the other?

This is based on my own opinion but I think that the old design is better then the new one, I think this because the old design had the national colours of the New Zealand flag while the new design just has 2 colors, Blue and White. I didn't think that National had to change their design but it's not up to me it's up to Bill English now that former PM John Key resigned.

I don't see a point of changing the logo for the party because National is National and nothing can change that. But the decision isn't mine so I have nothing to worry about.

Here is my reflection about the release of the new logo of the National party.
Bill English has come up with a new logo for the National party, I didn't think he should've changed it because I don't see a point.
Something I found challenging during this task was coming up with more ideas because the article wasn't that long. But something that I enjoyed during this task was being able to give my opinion on this decision. My next steps in learning is to pick an article that give in depth information not just 1 or 2 paragraphs.

Thanks for having the time to read my reflection!
Many thanks!

Student Council Team For 2017!

I am learning to write about why I am applying for the Student Council Team this year.

Last week we were told to apply for the Student Council Team for this year, of course I wanted to join the team because I want to show my full potential here at Tamaki Primary before I leave. This year seems different because most of the leaders last year have already departed to college leaving the Year 8's this year with a lot on our shoulders. Last year I had the privilege of being in the leader team because I showed what I can do to help the school become a better and safer enviroment.

I didn't join the team when the others did because I wasn't sticking to the right path and I was getting dragged away by negative choices. But now a year later, I have come back fresh and eager to learn and graduate as a proud Tamaki student. As I was filling out my application I was stuck halfway through because I didn't want to repeat what I said last year, this year.

As I clicked "Enter" I sent my applications to the teachers that are responsible for choosing the team, there was a thought flowing in my head and that thought was, only 10 leaders were to be chosen and what if I didn't make the team? What if my application wasn't good enough?

Last year one of my goals was to make the team and it happened, but this year will it be the same? I better not give my hopes up to early and wait for the answers. Before I leave Tamaki I want to leave with my head held up high and a badge with the lettering 'Student Council' I want to show the school what I can really do and that I deserve a place on the Student Council Team for 2017!

Here is my writing about why I want to become a Student Leader for this year!
Something I enjoyed about applying for the team was that I had support from my peers and they encouraged me to do the best I can do, something I found challenging was the thoughts and the ideas I had to put in, I struggled at times but in the end I got the job done.

Please leave a comment and thanks for reading!
Many thanks.

Former All Black Sione Lauaki Has Passed Away

I am learning to reflect on an article about former AB player Sione Lauaki's death.

Sione Lauaki played 17 tests for the All Blacks and he was an enormously destructive forward, but he has passed away from suffering kidney failure. He attended Kelston Boys High and from there on he played for the New Zealand Colts, creating his Auckland debut in 2002. His commitment and fitness was doubted early, he then made his debut for the Chiefs in 2004, and made hit test debut against Fiji at Albany in 2005.

He was also apart of the All Blacks squad that contested the 2007 World Cup, he played against Italy, Portugal, Scotland and Romania in pool games but he was then suspended for two games after high tackling a player in the Romanian team. He played in France, but struck major health problems and was reported to be living in Rarotonga.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are dedicating the rest of their Brisbane Global Rugby Tens campaign to the memory of Lauaki. Laukai was a 70-cap stalwart for the Chiefs in Super Rugby. Liam Messam who is the Chiefs captain has been given permission to fly home immediately after their quarter final games against the Queensland Reds on Sunday. "There's a number of guys who played a lot of footy with Wax," Chiefs coach Dave Rennie said.
"Liam Messam, in particular, is a great mate of his so it's been a pretty upsetting morning.

What do I think of this article?
Well to be honest I never really knew that Sione played for the Chiefs, and I've been watching the Chiefs play for a while now. But I think that after reading this article it seems that I have learnt a lot about him. Something I enjoyed about this article is that many other footy stars are paying tribute to his death by posting up statuses on Twitter and dedicating their love for Sione. Something that I found challenging was just picking out some key facts to create my reflection to share for the world.

Sad to hear the passing of @SioneLauaki. Love and prayers to the family.🙏

Damn. It's a sad day today, rest easy dox @SioneLauaki 💔

Thanks for having the time to read my reflection.

HAUORA!

I am learning to write about what we did on the word "Hauora"

'Hauora' sounds like a really hard word but once you get into the habit of learning about it, you might think you've learned it since you were 5 years of age. On Wednesday our class talked about Hauora and people gave some ideas on what they thought it meant to them. I already knew what Hauora meant and I didn't want to spoil it for those who didn't know, I wanted them to learn it for themselves.

There are four different types of walls in the "Te Whare Tapa Wha"  Mental Health, Spiritual Health, Emotional Health and Physical Health. Our teacher wrote each of these on a different paper and everyone had to contribute what it meant to them. There were loads of ideas and I was proud of my class for achieving this. Our school also made a movie about Hauora and what it means, this made it easier for me to understand the meaning of Hauora and now I look back and think to myself ' What if I didn't watch that movie?"

You must always watch out for your body health's and know what can affect them,
our task for this activity is to create a poem or rap about Hauora I think this is a really hard task because I might get stuck on some words. But I will never give up until the task is done.
I hope that I can complete the rap and soon publish it on my blog for the world to see.

IALT: Write about what we did on the word "Hauora"

Here is my reflection about Hauora.
It may seem like a really hard word but it isn't. I have learnt what the word Hauora means from when I was 8 years old. I enjoyed saying some answers for my class to learn because I think it can help them and give them a better understanding of what Hauora means. Something that I find challenging is having to create a rap about Hauora.
I hope I can finish the task and share it you you guys!

Thanks for having the time to read my reflection,
Many thanks!

Different Music Session

I am learning to write about our different Music session.

Today for Music it was completely different, and by different I mean way different. Well first off all we missed out 10 minutes of Music time because we were running in the hall ways and my teacher is strict about that because we might accidentally hit someone and injure them. So she caught us panting heavily and she told us not to run again and in the end she ended up walking us down to Music.

Instead of going down to Music as a class we went in different groups depending on what we chose to do for Music. There were 5 groups and I chose to do 'Digital'. Caleb, our music teacher told my whole class that the category Digital is doing simple DJ and matching beating. I was interested in this and I soon signed up for it. Today was our first practise and we talked about how Music was shared, way back in 10,000 BC (According to Caleb) Music was shared in a different way.

"You guy's picked the hardest group, if it's hard it's going to be more fun" said Caleb. I didn't have second thought because I had already committed to staying in this group.
Caleb also talked about how Thomas Edison created a disk that could hold songs. I was fascinated by this fact because I thought Thomas Edison was only the inventor of the light bulb, but I guess I was wrong. We talked about different websites that could be used to create Music, I was familiar with some of them like Garage Band and Sound Trap. I didn't know what we were going to do until Caleb told us to open our netbooks and log onto Sound Trap. I already had an account of course, and soon he told us how to match beat in a loop.

Everyone didn't know what he was talking about at first, but when he showed us I jumped straight into it! There were different beats and I didn't know which one to pick, but as I scanned through the available options Caleb said we almost had a few minutes left. I was eager to find a beat so I just skimmed and scanned until I found the perfect beat. As I went to click it time was up, I knew I didn't click it but I didn't mind because I could still work on it when I got back up to class.

For Music next week I hope that I can follow the rules and be able to walk down to Music myself without anyone telling me off.

IALT: Write a reflection about my Music experience.

'Today for Music it was completely different, and by different I mean way different'

Something I enjoyed about Music this week was being able to learn about how Music was shared around the world back in the olden days. Something I found challenging was being able to manage myself while coming back upto class. I hope next week I don't get called back and get taken down to Music by our teacher.

Weekend Reflection

IALT: Reflect on what I did during the long weekends.

After school on Friday I went home and got ready to go to my grandads home. It didn’t take me that long to get home but I was relieved when I finally opened the door of my house. I ran up the stairs had a shower and then packed my clothes, my brother was coming with me too. It didn’t take us long to get ready but soon we were on our way, when we reached grandad’s I sat down and watched T.V while my brother went up to the front house.

Some of the films that were on were mostly about crime and war, for me I think those kind of genre’s are very interesting. Meanwhile, my brother and cousins were playing outside, I couldn’t stay inside no more so I went outside and started playing with them, the sad thing was that it was getting dark and we would have to go sleep. And then there I was tucked in bed watching T.V again, at most times I go to sleep at 11:00pm but I fell asleep with the T.V still on.

The next morning I woke up and went up to the front house, my aunt was getting ready for a wedding one of her cousins was getting married. I was about to go with her but she said she was going with my uncle, I didn’t care too much because the wedding started at 11:00am and would finish at 5:00pm. The time was ticking fast, my aunt was getting ready and some of my cousins were still sleeping. So I went down to the backhouse and turned the T.V on again. It wasn’t long until my aunt left, that meant that all the kids were home alone with grandad.

After my aunt left it was boring so all the kids decided to go outside and play. I didn’t know what to play so I just shot some hoops, I’m pretty good but sometimes I shoot off target. I looked at the time 11:30am, I was still a long time until the wedding finished so I continued shooting hoops… 30 minutes had passed and then I heard the phone ring, it was my uncle he told us all to get ready to go somewhere. I told everyone and we all got ready just before my uncle arrived.

He arrived and we got into the car and drove off, we stopped at the Botanic Gardens in Manurewa. I already knew what it was, we just watched some dinosaurs, fake dinosaurs of course. The show wasn’t too long but it was humid. So my uncle decided that we would go to Mission Bay to have lunch there. When we got there we unpacked and I went straight to the flying fox, when you look at it, it looks scary but when you actually ride it, it’s not too bad. But then we has to go home, I agreed with my uncle because I was getting tired. So we drove off back to grandads house, I didn’t bother to unpack so I fell into a deep sleep.

Here is my weekend reflection, I know that today is Friday and it's almost the next week but I didn't know I could blog until I actually tried. This task wasn't too hard but when I had to remember what I done on the weekend it was kind of challenging my mind to think harder. Something I found challenging during this task was just stopping to think and something I enjoyed during this task was writing about it because I really did have a great time with my relatives on the weekend.

First Technology Reflection for 2017!

WALT: Reflect on our first session at Technology.

I am back! Here is my first post for 2017 and it's about Technology.
I was really pleased to be in Mr Grundy's class because I wanted to find out what we're doing for this term. It turned out to be wood work and creating things out of wood. I'm looking forward to what Mr Grundy has in plan for next week.

But until then please leave a comment and thank you for having the time to read my reflection!

Many thanks,
