That Sugar Film Part 2

WALT: Answer the questions about Healthy Eating from 'That Sugar Film' after watching 2 different parts of the film.

Here is the second part of the 'Sugar Film' I have already blogged Part 1 and 3 because I managed to finish those before this part. But now that I have, I have a clear image on what kind of damage Sugar does to your body. In this section Damon visits Amata and America, they are both different countries with similar appetites. 

Something that I enjoyed during this time, was completing the questions. I already have knowledge on what to do, and the questions didn't challenge me to think too hard. 

That Sugar Film Part 1

Here is the first part of questions that I have completed. I blogged part 3 first, which is unusual because I didn't finish this one first. But now I have, too start off I didn't quite get all the slides but now after watching 3 different parts, I now know.

I think I have got some of the slides wrong, but I still have part 2 to finish.

A challenge I found during this time, was first answering the questions but now I have the knowledge. I enjoyed working on this task, later. Because I have more knowledge about the experiment.

That Sugar Film Part 3

WALT: Answer the questions about Healthy Eating from 'That Sugar Film' after watching 3 different parts of the film.

Today me and my buddy Falakiko, had the oppurtunity to work together and finish this task that was given to us by our teacher. For the past 3 days we have been watching a documentary based on a man trying out what Sugar really does to you. It has been a long journey for him and his body has transformed quickly and swiftly. 

I think that this experiment is not good for anyone's Health because too much Sugar, can cause you more likely to have diabetes and heart damage. Something that I found challenging during this time was answering some of the questions with words that I didn't know/heard of. Luckily my teacher helped me. Something I enjoyed was working with a buddy to help me along the way.

Zumba Poster

IALT: Create poster that persuades students to participate in ZUMBA!

I along with one of my peers, Falakiko, had the job of creating a poster in which was about Zumba. The Student Leaders of our school all had the chance to host a Zumba class every Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes for both Senior and Junior students. We didn't get it approved of the first time but we realised our mistakes and we now have a Poster to put around the school.

Something that I found a challenge during this time was checking for mistakes, at the time I didn't know what was the mistake, but know I do. I enjoyed working with one of my colleagues on this task given because I can be more creative and have other ideas.

Buddy Time :) Foods!

WALT: Write down what kind of foods come from animals and plants.

After lunch today my class went down to our buddy class to do some research about what kind of foods come from plants and animals. My buddy for today was Garth, we worked together and completed the task given. We came up with over 50 different fruits, meat, and vegetables. 

Something that I enjoyed about this task was that I was able to work with my buddy, it was a long time since I last worked with him. Something I'm looking for next time, is giving him some tips on how to use a Chromebook.

Maths Reflection

IALT: Write about what I did during Maths time. 

Today in Maths I didn't answer the first question until 10 minutes had gone by, I was busy arguing  with a few of my peers on what the answer was. I was first working with Demetrius, he was working with another 2 people in our group Losana and Leilani when he decided to make a copy of their work and work with me. I closely examined their work and found out that they didn't quite answer the question properly. Well I thought I got the actual answer, but instead of arguing over which was the actual one, we decided to merge and work as one. We worked together as a group to finish some of the questions and assist with answers and strategies. 

At first I felt like I was the only one who didn't get the question, but as I continued to read the question and really think about it I got the answer. Here are the questions and answers we came up with:

1. Ari was ordering 4 tickets for a concert .She multiplied the ticket price payed by four and added on the Booking Fee of $6.She got $70.How much did one ticket cost?

Answer: The answer is $16 because in the question it states that she multiplied the price of four tickets and added on the booking fee of $6. And got $70. So I’m thinking the price of four tickets is $64 because with the booking fee she had $70. And if you divide 4 by 64 it’ll equal 16.

2. Sam bought three identical watches. He paid a total of $90. How  much was each watch before the discount was taken off?

Answer: The answer is $30 because the question says how much was each watch before the discount was taken off. In addition 30 x 3 = 90

The first question really challenged me, while Leilani and Losana answered the 2nd question. I am going to finish the other questions and blog them so that you guys know that after I blog and don't finish work, I bin it. Although this doesn't look like much, I found the first one challenging because I didn't quite get it in the beginning. When I finally did get it and the second one, it was time to blog. I thought next time I need to manage my time wisely and keep track of the time.

A challenge I found was when I had to answer the first question, it challenged me alot, but when I did manage to finish, it was too late. I enjoyed working together with my group because I had assistance on questions I didn't know.

Free Writing - Responsibility

IALT: Write about what Responsibility means to me?

For the first 40 minutes of the day my class had the oppurtunity to pick one of the three topics; Honesty, Responsibility and Integrity, and write about what it means to me? The topic I have chosen is Responsibility, I chose this one because as a Student Leader I should always be consistently Responsible. At first I couldn't quite think properly because I hadn't been to school for the past 4 days (excluding weekends) but I didn't give up and this is what I have written.

Something that I found challenging throughout this task was when I had to write about what it meant to me. I critically thought about what it meant, and tried my best to write down what it meant to me. Something that I enjoyed during this time was being able to write, as Writing is one of my favourite subjects.

CyberSmarts T3W3

IALT: Pick a celebrity and write down my impression based on their online profile.

The celebrity that I have chosen is Joseph Parker, not only is he Samoan but he is currently holding the WBO heavyweight title. Did you know that 18 of his 23 fights come from KO? Although he has only fought less then 30 bouts he still has a lot of power and accuracy. One thing I admire about him is that he is humble and doesn't 'show off' when he wins his fights.


 Rumors say he might be fighting Anthony Joshua! I have a feeling Anthony Joshua will win because all of his 19 fights come from TKO. But who knows? I also worked on what I should/should not put on my blog just below my impression. Although I wasn't here on Tuesday for Cybersmarts I was accompanied by my peers who helped me finish the task. 

What do I think about this activity? Well for me I think this is a great way for people to find out more things about those they don't know much about. Like for example, If I didn't know much about Valerie Adams I could search her up and find out some things about her! Her age, DOB, Height, Weight , etc. But most of the celebrities show their email, and last names on the internet making them vunerable for hackers. 

Something I enjoyed while doing this task was that I was able to find out some facts about Joseph Parker and work on Cybersmarts at the same time. A challenge I found was when I first started, I didn't know what to do but luckily I have friends that help me along the way.

My 2017 Blog Profile

IALT: Write my 2017 Blog Profile. 

Talofa Lava Tagata, My name is Gary and I am a Year 8 student in Room 9 at Tamaki Primary School. My teacher’s name is Ms Komor, she is a very funny teacher but at times you just need to work to ensure you don’t get a growling. I am proud to be mixed of Tongan and Samoan heritage. I love to play Rugby and Basketball. For me I think that Rugby is a creative game to get to know the other side’s weaknesses and strengths. Not only are they the best Rugby team in the world but after losing a match, they congratulate the other team and learn from their mistakes to ensure they don’t lose their next match. I find Maths a challenge because from a very young age I have dislike Maths.  My goals for this year is to become better in every subject, mostly Mathematics,  and build more memories with my peers before I head off to college. Someone that inspires me to be a better person is my mum! This year I am looking forward to the things our teachers have planned for the Year 7 and 8’s of 2017. This year is going to be great! Here is my 2017 Blog Profile, now at this age and my last year of intermediate this may be the last time you get to witness my blog profile. I have ensured that I wrote down everything I had to, this task was given to my class from Mrs Shearing, our Cybersmarts Teacher. Something I enjoyed while writing my profile was that I was able to share some of my favourite sports and teams. 

What are my thoughts? Well my profile is one of the things that help people know things about me, but not to personal. Many people around the world have profiles, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc.
