Music Reflection

IALT:  Write about what I did and learnt during Song Writing.

For music this week, me and my peers had been working on choosing a song and changing the lyrics to turn the moral of the song into a moral based on our Inquiry topic, Hobbies. My group consisted of three people, Kenneth , Siale and myself. The first thing we did was change up a sentence, to make it more interesting and make the reader visualise deeper. I loved this activity because it challenged me to really think on my perspective, and what other people would like what I wrote down. Me and Kenneth worked on it together :

I eagerly cruised to the neighboring shop last night, because my home boys were waiting for me wearing red and black.

I Rapidly Dashed To The disintegrated Shattered  Store waiting  to collapse to get some bread .

The lines in the red are mine, and the writing in blue is Kenneth's. We shared our lines with our class, and to be honest I wasn't expecting the reaction that we got. I thought it was going to be a 'boring' reaction but it turned out to be the opposite! Music teacher, Caleb was surprised with our lines and we left him thinking about what we wrote.

He said that we did a good job and that it's good to make your reader ask some questions. I was proud of myself, and then we combined with another member, Siale. As all leaders, we came up with a song together and we didn't leave out any suggestions from our teammates. Which was good because if one didn't agree, then it wasn't the right choice.

It was sad at the end because we didn't have enough time to change up the lyrics, but we would end up having time next week to finish what we started. I love Music, because it gets me in different moods, Happy and Sad. My favourite genre of Music is Hip Hop, how about you?

What I learnt in Music?!

IALT: Talk about learning to add and play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a website called Sound Trap.

This week's session was one of the best Music sessions I have ever had! Not only was it amazing but this week I managed to share my work with Caleb and to my surprise he was actually proud of what I done. Without further or due, the beginning of Music was the same with the greeting and then Caleb asking some questions, we are focusing on Melody, the two things that make a melody is Pitch and Rhythm . At times I forget but luckily other students in the class already have it memorized in their heads. It seems like only a majority of the people answer the questions while the others just sit there and rely on them to answer the questions.

For me I didn't mind because it was a long week, where finishing and blogging our work is our top priority. Just then Caleb asked if anyone finished their little music draft, I raised my hand. I was starting to get annoyed with the other kids in the class because they were playing music without headphones, that made the room loud. I am a well organised student and already had the things, ready for learning.

Time went by fast, and I just started working on picking another Musical instrument that would help me make my track even better than it was before. It took me a long time before I realised I could make up my own, I couldn't quite master the other musical instruments but I tried everything I could, from Bass tracks, to Drum tracks, and then to Piano tracks. It seemed like nothing wanted to match my track.

I felt like the world was against me, not helping me but telling me to make my own track. Your own work, is the best work. Time wasn't nice either, it was time for the other class so we had to pack up. Caleb said that we will be working on something else next week, and I am especially excited for that session.

Something I found enjoyable was working with different types of musical instruments, some sounded like a masterpiece, while others didn't match at all!
A challenging thing, was when I making my own, I didn't master it, but I know I will.

Music Reflection

IALT: Write about the activity I did during my time with Caleb, our Music Teacher.

Today in Music, we worked on Soundtrap, a website where you can create music and share it around the world. The main thing for this weeks session was playing a pitch and melody song, the song we were told to play on Sound Trap was 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'  yes, the song that was sung to you when you were young, but with this task there was a little twist with it, instead of playing it on it's own we were told to put in a drum beat along with it. To make it more interesting and entertaining. At first I thought it was going to be boring, but then it actually wasn't! I was amazed at how creative Caleb was, coming up with this old song and turning it into something completely different.

It took me about 5 minutes to memorize the whole thing, but once I got it, I felt like a pro. Playing the Piano, and adding in a Bass and Drum beat with it, it sounded like a good music track about to go viral. At times , I would get angry because I forgot the track, or I didn't know what to add in to make it better. Something I learnt during Music was getting the key components in the right order and in time with the beat.

I learnt that, every song has it's own beat, melody, rhythm and style. I haven't yet finished off the song, but once I do, I might share it on my blog. Something I found challenging was remembering what I was to do, and remember the keys.

Music Exp

WALT: Reflect on our Music experience.

Today in Music we were watching clips about Music from a company called Rad Rhythm. I learnt what Subdivisions are, along with Accent. An Accent is an emphasis placed on a particular note. Subdivisions are musical beats that can be divided into smaller parts.

The word dynamics means.... Changing the volume of the music.

The word Crescendo means increasing loudness in music.

The word Decrescendo means decreasing the loudness of music.

Subdivisions are musical beats that can be divided into small pieces, like stated above.

My highlight for this session was being able to learn new things about music. And also challenging my peers to spell a word correctly.
