Four Food Groups

WAL: about the different key food groups.

Here is a DLO that contains the four different food groups here in new Zealand. For the past two days I have been away at home sick and coming back to school having to finish this work isn't easy. But as I was working through this I found some facts that I have never found/heard of before. Like I didn't know that we need Fat because Fat helps your body cells grow, and produce important hormones! I put down some Cultural food my country like to nourish themselves with, for me I think that from now on, I should achieve my 'goal' for this year; not to eat food that contains too much Sugar and Fat.

Something that I enjoyed while completing this task is that I was able to find out some new facts about Carbs, Protein and Fat and I got to find out what and why we need these things.
A challenge I found was sometimes answering the questions because at times the internet doesn't help you.

Kiwisport Reflection

IALT: Write about my KiwiSport Experience.

Today we had our 2nd KiwiSport session, this term we have a different sport, Basketball. Last term we did Skateboarding and Badminton this term we are doing Basketball. Basketball is one of my favourite sports because I like to both block and shoot. During this time I enjoyed the way we got to practise on how to pass properly, in a basketball game the ball moves faster than the players so we had to practise passing so when we played in a real game we didn't have to concentrate too hard on which type of pass we had to use.

We practised, 3 different types of passing, Overhead Pass, Chest Pass, Bounce Pass. The easiest one for me was the Chest Pass my accuracy was high, I managed to pass the ball directly to the chest of my partner Matthew. The hardest pass was the Overhead pass, I had to take a step before passing but at the same times my elbows were getting sore and soon all my power in my arms decreased. We also played a game in which we had to practise passing and laying up. At first I didn't quite understand but I quickly released what to do pretty quick. I was proud of myself when I got my shot in. Finally it was time to finish. This week's session was amazing and I look forward to playing again next week.

Solo Taxonomy

WALT: Use Solo Taxonomy to critically summarize an article/text.

In this DLO I have completed a Solo Taxonomy activity after I read an article based on how much sugar a man , women and child under 4 years of age should take in every day. I was surprised at how much sugar I should take in, as a young man I eat too much sugar depending on my age. I eat alot of Sugar because I always get tempted to eat Sugary foods. My diet goal for this year is to stop eating too much Sugary foods and begin to take in the much more healthier things like Fruits and Vegetables.

While doing this activity I enjoyed thinking before I read the article, during reading and after reading. From this article I know that I have been taking in too much Sugary foods. A challenge I found was when I had to use some of the sentence starters, my next learning steps is to use Solo Taxonomy more often so that I know how to use it , and have more experience.

Anzac Timetables

IALT: Write about a Math activity I have completed.

Today after Morning Tea my class had the oppurtunity to complete 3 Math worksheets containing timetables. At first I thought I was going to not complete the task but I turned out to be the first person to finish it! I was shocked because Maths is my least favourite subject and when I finished 1st I thought people let me finish. But they didn't I was just in the mood for answering questions that I don't normally like. I haven't really liked Maths since I was young because I never finished Maths in time. The thing that I don't like about Maths is explaining how you get the answer, sometimes I know the answer but don't know how to explain how I got it. That makes me dislike Maths, but explaining how you get the answer is critical in Maths.
I myself don't know all the times tables,  but I managed to complete the task in a short amount of time. I completed 3 Maths sheets in about 10-15 minutes.

Something that I enjoyed during this task was that I was able to crack the code and answer all the questions right. A challenge I found during this activity was trying to answer some of the hard times tables, but in the end I managed to complete them!

Tamaki School Values

WALT: Write about why our School Values are important using the S.E.E structure.

Here in this DLO I have written down why our school Values are important. My school have 5 values, Whanaungatanga, Tukumarie, Rangimarie, Ako and Manaakitanga. Today is also our first day back at school, I didn't want to come back to school because I thought that the holidays were too short. But back to school means I have to think hard, wake up early and have a can do attitude for learning.

Something I enjoyed during this time was being able to write down what I know about the school values has I have been here at Tamaki for 7 years. A challenge I found was using the S.E.E structure to write because at times I get mixed up. My next learning steps in learning is to think more critically and not think too hard about it.

Te Oro Reflection

IALT: Write about my Te Oro experience.

Here in this DLO I have written about my Te Oro experience. It was amazing that I got to perform in front of my own school peers but as you know, everything doesn't always go according to plan.

KiwiSport Reflection

WALT: Write about our last KiwiSport session for this term.

Today we had our last KiwiSport session, the sport we did was Skateboarding. During this last session I both amazed and shocked, not only was this the last session for this term but most of the people in our class had a competition on who could complete the course in the fastest time, it turned out that only 10-14 people contributed but in the time most of them completed it in under 1 minute to me is a very good try.

The fastest time in our class was Matthew, who completed the course in the 30 seconds, and his cousin Sifa coming in 2nd place with 31 seconds. I myself, didn't want to try because I'm good at doing things under pressure, but it was amazing to see how many people wanted to try and beat Matthew's time.

At first I thought Matthew wouldn't get beaten, it was his time to reign until one of the instructors decided to give it a ago, he was ultra fast and beat Matthew's time by 2 seconds. I looked at Matthew's face and I knew that he didn't like being beaten so he wanted to have another go, I was getting a little bit annoyed with his trying, so I just wanted to go for a little rounds.

When I was skating I felt, like I was racing the wind, I felt like I was running on water, but no I was just riding a Skateboard. For me I think that it's a shame we couldn't have another 3 more sessions of Skateboarding. But at the same time it is the last week of school.

I'm going to miss Skateboarding and the instructors but in their time here I've learnt that I can keep trying and achieve.
Something that I have enjoyed during the time I have contributed in with Martin and Luke, was being able to learn and now able to master skateboarding. A challenge I found was my first time trying, I didn't achieve it but in the end I never gave up.
