Technology Reflection

IALT: Write about Comparing and Contrasting two different designs in Technology class.

Today in Technology, it was off to a great start with Ms Ferguson being happy and our group. The first thing we did was a Compare and Contrast activity where we had to write down the Similarities and Differences of two fruits : A Banana and Orange. Some things that are the same with these things are, they are both fruit, they both grow on trees, they both have skin, and they both have bright colours. At first I thought, "Why are we doing this?" Just then at that moment, she said it related to our main task, where we had to create two different designs and then compare and contrast them. Both designs I had was a Shield and a Chicago Bull Head. 

It doesn't look like much but it took me about 30 - 45 minutes to do both of these because it involved a lot of drawing, cutting and measuring. It felt a lot like Mr Grundy's class because everything we did in Ms Ferguson's class was a lot similar to Mr Grundy's but we were designing things completely different. Explaining: I chose to do the Bull face shape because it represents one of the most anti socialist animals on the planet, The Bull. And I chose to do the Shield because I love rugby and therefore it represents the State Of Origin shield. 

And then visitors from Whakatane came in, it felt pretty awkward because I wasn't used to other visitors coming in and just opening to our learning. They asked some questions about our learning and then I realised something, there schools have blogs! I was amazed because I thought that their school didn't have blogs, but they also had experience on DLO's and chromebooks!

Just then one of the teacher's Julian asked if we could share the link for our blogs to him to show his class. I thought it was my second time because yesterday I was asked the same thing but a teacher from a different school. As time flies by it was time to pack up, we made a heap of mess but managed to tidy up quickly.

I learnt that from this week, Comparing and Contrasting is something that you can easily do if you just think and focus very hard. A challenge I found was drawing the Bull Head because I sometimes got it crooked or 'off' Next week I hope we can move onto creating the actual thing!
