Food For Thought Relfection

IALT: Talk about our Food For Thought session with Adele.

We had a women called Adele come in to class and talk to us about the different foods we eat. Although our topic for this term is Hobbies, our topic last term was based on the type of food we eat. At first I thought was going to be a waste of time but I didn't realise that this session was something that I would always remember when I pick food or going to eat something. We basically learned about the food groups which is , Vegetables and Fruit, Dairy Products and Grain. Overall I think that Veges and Fruits is the most important because they help us grow and stay healthy.

I thought this was a great way for everyone in my class to learn about the different things we eat and how to choose foods that will help us grow stronger and develop more naturally in the foods we choose. Something I learnt was picking foods that have more fibre in them, Fibre keeps you full for longer so therefore you won't need to keep eating just to keep yourself full. So next time I choose something, I will look for the foods that have a lot of fibre, like Weet Bix.

Something challenging I found was understanding at first the different things that will help us keep fuelled for longer. Picking a drink, I would choose Milk and Water now because they don't have sugar in them and will help our bodies grow. Something that everyone should drink in order for them to maintain a healthy life style.

Kiwi Sport Reflection

IALT: Talk about what I learnt during KiwiSport.

This term for Kiwisport, well actually I don't even know if what we are learning is a sport, but anyways we are doing Hip Hop. I know right? Is Hip Hop a sport? That's what I thought but I didn't bother to ask myself so many questions because it's worth a try doing something you have never done before. At first I thought it was going to be boring because I don't like dancing but when we got there I actually enjoyed it.

We learnt the four elements that make up Hip Hop, which is DJing, MCing, Breakdancing and Graffiti. I didn't quite know what these things meant but more deeper into the lesson I learnt some moves, called the Smurf, and James Brown. I didn't know who James Brown was but the move we did was actually fun and challenging at the same time.

Overall I thought that this Hip Hop session was something I really enjoyed, even though I don't like to dance. But something challenging I found was doing the James Brown walk because I didn't quite get it, but now I do and I am really happy. Something I enjoyed was dancing because I felt it and got into it.

Cross Country / Fitness Reflection

IALT: Write about a new running track that we do for fitness.

This week for fitness the teachers have decided to extend our running lap distance, instead of running around the bike track we have to run around the block. Some of us us call it 'Cross Country' because it's long and it requires us to set a pace where we can keep running the whole lap without stopping. For me the first time I thought it was going to be easy but running around I started to lose my energy faster than I thought.

Running around the 3rd corner I noticed that a stitch was forming on the side of my rib cage, I couldn't describe what I felt but I couldn't breath heavily and couldn't control how fast I was breathing. So I walked the whole way back until I reached the finish line. It wasn't one of the moments where I came first, but I knew what it would take to conquer the track and how long it would take me.

But yesterday I kept myself at a manageable pace and overtook the people in front of me to come first, but I didn't want to brag about it because I didn't want anyone else to feel bad about themselves. Something challenging I found was not speeding up and wasting my energy fast, but next week I hope I can finish faster and go for longer.

Technology Reflection

IALT: Talk about what I did during Technology.

Today for Technology I started paint my design, which was a relief as I wanted to move on like about 3 weeks ago. But the thing that made me really happy was the fact that I didn't waste any time painting because I wanted it to shown as one of the best things I have created in my life so far. For those who forgot what I my class is creating, we are creating a clock for anyone we wish to do it for. I have chosen to do it for myself because I didn't want to make it look like a three year old made it. When really it was a 13 year old student.

I didn't quite go according to my draft because when I really thought about it, it looked like it didn't suit so instead I just chose to use 2 colours, red and white. Which surprisingly went really good, but I sometimes went over the line which made my work look like I used too much paint and I wasn't too careful while painting. Something that really challenged me was not using too much paint. Like Mrs Ferguson said, too much paint would make our work look terrible.

I didn't quite finish the whole of my art but at least there's always a next time. I can't wait until I finish my design because I know it will be a fantastic piece of work and something that I will always remember, the teacher who taught me and the friends who helped me. Next week I hope that I can finish of my work and insert the clock mechanism.

Slide Of Advice

IALT: Create a slide of advice for when you are going to post something online, or using the internet.

This week we had Mrs Shearing come in once again for her normal visit, to teach us skills based on using the internet in the correct way and how to stay safe. We missed out last week's session because she was away, but this week we learnt about 'Digital Footprints' and that we should only post things on the internet that we are proud of. Because once you post something it is going to be permanent, meaning although it might seem you have deleted it, it is still somewhere on the web.

Anyways, that's something I've learnt.  A challenge I found was understanding the way that the internet works, and how the safety search saves all the things you have been recently on. I think that the internet is one of the things that people little know that it could help you get a good job or ruin your chances of achieving your dreams.

For example, if you have done something that you regret doing in past it can have a huge impact on things yet to come.  So I'd rather do the right thing then have nothing to be proud of. A challenge I found was coming up with the different advice to give to my audience. I hope that it can help people make the right decisions.
